    Delta Gamma's Anchorsplash

This year's Anchor Splash was an absolute success! Delta Gamma made $11,663.63 and counting! Both the turnout and the fundraising total mark the highest numbers in the 38-year history of the event at UCLA. Past Anchor Splash events only included fraternities, but a focused outreach effort by Delta Gamma brought sororities and club sports teams in for the first time, bringing the number of participants in swimming events to about 200. Anchor Splash director Kalin Werner exclaims, "I couldn't even believe how amazing synchronized swimming was this year with PIKE recording a whole song based off of anchor splash to play with their routine. It just felt great to see everyone, DG's and participants, all be so enthusiastic about our cause!" • WOMP (Westwood Organized MEGA Project)

The Panhellenic Community was more than happy to help with “WOMP”, a Westwood Organized Project to restore and beautify its closest community partner. The first volunteer day took place on April 17, 2010 in which a majority of chapters sent representatives to help out with the project. Volunteer projects included tree planting, landscaping, repainting street furniture and historic lamp posts with a fresh coat of “Westwood Blue,” sign repair, graffiti and sticker removal, and many other efforts.  The volunteer efforts that took place on April 17 were so successful that the Panhellenic Community, along with other volunteers from the UCLA Volunteer Center, flocked the streets of Westwood once again on May 1st.

These projects were created by the UCLA Volunteer Center and co-sponsored by the Westwood Community. The Panhellenic Community looks forward to volunteering again in the future. For more information, visit UCLA’s Volunteer center at: http://volunteer.ucla.edu/.
